The German strand of the silent movies era was of special importance but was cut short by the rise of the Nazis. This book features some 280 film stills of more than 60 movies such as Metropolis, Nosferatu, Asphalt, and The Blue Angel by directors like F.W. Murnau, Fritz Lang, Ernst Lubitsch, Josef von Sternberg, and others, most of which emigrated to Hollywood in the 1930s.
